Drive to Patate
Today we leave the Amazon and head towards Patate. Along the way we will call in at a balsa wood carving workshop at Puyo and have the chance to see the Pailon del Diablo waterfall from where we have impressive views of the Tungurahua volcano if it is clear. We then continue on to Patate where we spend the night. Depending on the activity of the Tungurahua volcano we may or may not be able to visit the town of Banos and its thermal baths en route. If the volcano is erupting we will take an alternative route avoiding Banos.
