Gifts from the Garden

July 20, 2014 By sue Leave a Comment

For many years it was always me scrounging from other people: can I have a cutting of that? when you divide that clump can I have some? have you got any spare lemons or feijoas?  It is wonderful to now be able to return the favour and share the bounty of my garden with others whether that be sending them away from my place with seedlings or cuttings wrapped in newspaper; taking a bunch of handpicked flowers, lemons or a jar of jam when I visit them ; or making a more substantial gift from the garden for birthdays, thank yous or other occasions.

A bottle of ‘worm juice’ fertiliser, a bromeliad pup in a nice pot and decorated with gardenia flowers

Succulents are so easy to grow. A cutting in a nice pot can make a great present.

Yuccas are very hardy and take easily from cuttings. I have a ‘mother plant’ (a stem given to me years ago) from which I have taken numerous cuttings for gifts for friends
