At one stage I was having a ‘Dragonfly Phase’ where I was making lots of different cards with dragonflies on. Steph found this book in the library and suggested that we try making some of the beautiful beaded dragonflies (and butterflies) in it.
We just needed some 34 gauge wire, 28 gauge wire, and a range of smallish beads. We also needed some mulberry paper for the wings and some tacky craft glue.
Steph also had some amazing material called Crystal Shred. You spread this out thinly between two sheets of paper and then iron it. It sticks together to form a lovely shimmery mesh. We tried some of this also to make extra sparkly wings for the dragonflies – fantastic!
I had some blank cards that I had purchased that had butterfly wings cut out of them. They looked good but I could never work out how to use them. Then I had the idea to put the crystal shred behind the wings and stick on beaded bodies and antenna on the front. I was very pleased with the finished cards.
