Flora Tea

September 24, 2014 By sue Leave a Comment

At the function I attended where I had to create a cocktail (Lemon Sherbet Fizz), I was introduced to another very innovative and spectacularly beautiful product: Flora Tea.

Flora Tea is a multi-award winning product. The teas are made from green tea leaves handcrafted to surround dried aromatic flowers forming a ‘tea ball’.  The ball is very plain looking but when you pour hot water on it, it gradually unfolds to release the most amazing flower that floats up in the tea pot or glass.  And the teas are scented with jasmine and chrysanthemum and other flowers.

You need to have a clear teapot or a heat-resistant glass (available from Flora Tea) to get the best effect but I managed to still surprise a friend for afternoon tea with the sample I got at the function.  The tea initially seems expensive at $5.99 for one ball but it is not an everyday tea, you can get a bulk discount, you can get another 2 or 3 brews out of the ball, and after you have drunk the tea you can display the flower for up to a week so I think it is a good price.  There are many different flower designs/flavours available including a mixed gift pack.

It is a really nice product to have at a function because the flower in the glass makes you feel like you are having a cocktail and it is a very festive way to have a beneficial and revitalising cup of tea!

You can find out more and order on their website www.floratea.co.nz
