I’ve always liked the idea of making my own natural health and beauty products, and have been spurred on to try some of them. So far these have turned out to be very easy but many of the creams and lotions have daunted me with recipes requiring you to create different phases at different temperatures and combining them at different times. I’ve been easing myself in gradually by making some of the simpler recipes to start with. See list at the end of the post for other simple recipes to try.
The ingredients in this recipe for Summer Hair Repair from Go Native sounded so delicious (and easy) that I had to give it a go. I have also seen it using Rapeseed Oil instead of Macadamia Oil and described as Summer Hair Mask.

40g Conditioner Pellets
30g Shea Butter
20g Hazelnut Oil
10g Polysorbate 20
Combine everything in a pot. I put the pot onto my scales and weighed the ingredients in one by one resetting the scales to zero between each. Melt ingredients gently on the stove top. Stir to blend, pour into wide mouth containers and leave to set. Makes approx 200g.
- Combine ingredients
- Melt gently on stove top
- Pour into containers to set
To use:
Comb a liberal amount through dry hair and wrap in cling film. Leave on for 30 minutes or overnight. Shampoo out.
or
Comb a liberal amount through hair before going to the beach. It will protect your hair and will shampoo out.
