Counting Sheep – have fun with your card making

May 26, 2022 By sue Leave a Comment

Creativity is always fun but it is even better if it makes you laugh out loud as well from time to time. Don’t be afraid to let out your inner child, those bad puns, and just allow yourself to be silly. Have fun with your card making.

I did this with a stamp & die set that I got recently from Stampin’ Up as a reward with my other purchases – called Counting Sheep. I had a few ideas when I started but it wasn’t until I got going and just let my imagination run that I realised how versatile the set could be.

I started by stamping the three different sheep onto a sheet of A4 paper covering the whole sheet, then die cutting them out. I also die-cut some fences and balloons that came with the set. I used my copic markers to colour them in a little and for a few of the sheep I used a dimensional paint that I wanted to see if I could get to look like wool.

I got out a box of backgrounds that I had made previously and found some greenish ones that reminded me of grass and some blue (counting sheep to fall asleep/dream). Initially I was quite ‘realistic’ with my designs but rapidly started adding balloons and flowers, then suitable words – and it grew from there. I realised that the sheep could be dancing or holding/wearing a variety of items. I started being bolder with the backgrounds I used (but still in green or blue themes) and added some letter dies. Then out came the sheep puns – love ewe, be ewe, be your be-ewe-tiful self, don’t be sheepish, happy baa-thday to ewe!

I had so much fun with this and hope it might inspire you to play and let out your inner child too.
