Homemade Lemon Gin Recipe

March 16, 2021 By sue Leave a Comment

Easy to make home-made lemon gin using a gin botanicals kit and homegrown lemons.

Gin Botanicals KitI had bought some Gin Kit Botanicals from Mad Millie following my last efforts making Home-made Gin. These come with 3 different flavours:

  • Traditional London Dry Gin botanical blend
  • Bay Leaf botanical blend
  • Mint botanical blend

I made up the Traditional London Dry Blend for this recipe: juniper berries, coriander seeds, citrus peels (lemon, orange), liquorice root

Put 1l vodka in a jar, add botanicals and leave to steep 24 hours.
Strain the botanicals out using a filter paper lined funnel.
Bottle and label.

For the Lemon Gin:

4 large lemons
200g sugar
1 litre gin

Zest and juice the lemons.

Put all the ingredients into a jar with a sealable lid. Store in a cool, dark place for a month, shaking gently every day for the first week, then once a week to dissolve the sugar.

Strain the gin through a muslin-lined sieve but don’t mash the lemon pulp as it will make the gin cloudy. Decant into sterilised bottles (use a fancy bottle if giving for a gift).
